Despite winning just two events, the Adrian High School boys swim team used its depth in several events to capture the Southeastern Michigan Independent Swim League (SMISL) championship which concluded Saturday at Tecumseh High School. The Maples finished with 390 points in the five-team meet, beating out runner-up Milan (330), Tecumseh (281), Chelsea (234) and Bedford (133).

A Michigan Supreme Court ruling last week let stand the conviction and prison term of a Manitou Beach man who admitted sexually abusing a neighbors son in 2002, announced Lenawee County Prosecutor Jonathan Poer. Gregory Shannon Fox, 44, is to remain in prison at least one more year and long as another eight years and four months for his third-degree criminal sexual conduct convictions in 2003.

A 19-year-old Adrian man was arraigned on a negligent homicide charge Monday in Lenawee County District Court. Chad Allen Bishop is accused of running a stop sign on Holloway Road at Rogers Highway on Oct. 17 and causing the death of a Tecumseh man. Bishop, who was seriously injured in the two-vehicle crash, remains free on personal recognizance pending a March 15 preliminary examination. He ...
